I think there is no other place in the world that I would like to be to turn 21 then Ecuador serving the Lord in his work..

June 27, 2011
Hey fam!!!
Well I don’t have much more to say because I already talked with mom on Tuesday so I’ll just see you all in 6 weeks. Much love!!!

Just playin. OK so Mom, Jordan I just want to say happy birthday!!! I am sorry that I forgot to write it last week it’s just that I am so lost with the things that are going on back at home. lol I hope you guys had the best birthdays ever!! I’ll be buying you guys some sweet stuff here pretty soon. So I can’t believe that June is pretty much over and July is well on its way. I can’t believe that I’ll be turning 21 in two weeks. lol I can do whatever I want. lol just playin. I think there is no other place in the world that I would like to be to turn 21 then Ecuador serving the Lord in his work. Ok so Jordan is coming home to visit- that is cool. Man, dad really you are making me trunky. Talking about fishing, camping and all the things that I love most in life. lol but it’s cool because I am doing a pretty good job staying focused in the work. With President Montalti it’s hard to even think about home. He is always changing things and helping us to have more success. But no I am doing good. I can proudly say to Jordan that I am getting up every morning on time and still working my heart out. We were going to have a baptism this week that we are in but we changed it because we have a conference this week and all the old missionaries have to go to Michala. So we are going to wait for the next week and it’s possible that we have 2 baptisms. We are working our hardest and hoping to have at the least 3 baptisms. I think we can get 4 or 5 but we will have to see. Hey you know what today I was reading the scriptures in my studies this morning and I found a scripture that I really liked. I mean it just applies perfectly to my life. I just felt like it talked to me or better said that it was written for me. Here this is the scripture. ( 17 Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Elder Keables behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever, yea the , the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men. 18 Behold, he is a man like unto Ammon, the son of Mosiah, yea and even the other sons of Mosiah yea, and also Alma and his sons, for they were all men of God, like unto Elder Keables ) lol it totally applies to my life. lol Even says my name there. lol Alma 47:17 18. lol lol I think that’s something that I have learned here in the mission is to apply the scriptures to my own life. lol it was so funny I called up the elders in the district and told them that I had a scripture that I wanted to share with them to motivate them in the work. I had them put in on speaker phone so that all 4 of them could hear it lol it was really funny. They enjoyed it a lot. After that I did the same with the sisters lol. The mish is the best. Anyway I think we are going to be taking off. If I have more time later I’ll write some more. I love you all and miss you all. I hope you have a great week and don’t get too trunky fam. lol I love you all.

“We can help you with that”...

June 20, 2011
Good Afternoon!!!
Ok mom so I talked to the zone leader and he said that if I bug them about it then they have to do it. So I guess I’ll just have to do it. I think that everyone should be go with it. I think the only one who might not like it is President Montalti but we will see. I’ll be talking with them tonight and if I can I’ll write you something small tomorrow. But I’ll let them know that the 16th is just too late for school and for everything. Ok so what can I tell you all about? Really it gets harder and harder to write you guys something every week. It’s hard for me to think of what to write and I just get tired of writing. lol but ya so we are going today to Guayaquil to go to the temple just me and my comp. I guess that’s the good thing about training new missionaries. lol because I always get to go to the temple. lol Hey so not this week but the next week we will be having another baptism. So on Thursday me and my comp were walking in our sector when a couple called us over. They told us that they were members from Guayaquil and that they got baptized in the year 2001. They said they have been living 4 years in Cuenca but have only gone to church just a few times. And the best part is they said they wanted us to visit them because they wanted to go back to church again and that their son who has 9 years wants to get baptized. lol so me being a very wise and smart missionary said to them, “We can help you with that”. lol and so that night we visited them and on Sunday they went to church. This week we are going to teach the son the lessons and we are also going to have a family home evening at the house of the bishop. Also I think that on Wednesday of this week we are going to teach some guy whose name is Matias. He is from Germany and we are going to see if we can put a date. It’s going to be so weird because I have never taught a lesson in English and this I will have to teach by myself because my comp doesn’t know any. lol it’s going to be really interesting. But ya we are just killing it here in Cuenca. I really am just loving it. Sometimes it’s hard but I feel because we have been so obedient and also we have worked so hard that the Lord really blesses us for our hard work. We only have 3 more weeks in this change and I am hoping that we can have 2 more baptisms or three. But we will have to work really hard and trust in the Lord. I believe we can do it and I know that the Lord can make in possible. It just depends on the people we teach and our effort. Well I can’t think of that much more to tell you guys about. Hey mom when you receive the CD of all the pics can you tell me so I can erase the pics on my camera. Well I want you all to know that I love you and miss you very much. It won’t be long and we will be back together. I hope you have the best week and that everything goes the way you want it to. I love you all and miss you all.

it’s what brings the most joy and happiness to the life of a missionary...

June 13, 2011
Hi Family!!!
Happy Monday!!!! Wow that last letter that you sent me was kind of a surprise. I can’t believe that Justin joined the marines. Since when did that become something that he wanted to do? That is just soo hard for me to believe. Also, that Russell is home already. Man time sure does go by way fast. Also, Michael Mohr is coming home, Zeke Wright and also Michael Watts. It’s just so crazy that all those guys are in the same shoes that I am in. I imagine they are so scared just like me. lol It’s going to be weird to see them all again, because it’s been just so much time. So Tori is still engaged to that guy? I also find that so hard to believe. Sounds like not much has changed with the family since the last time that I wrote. It just sounds like things are moving right along. Actually, it almost sounds a little bit boring at home with only Janae, Melissa and Ryan there. But don’t worry, when I get home things well be back to their norm lol. Actually things are going to be even more crazy because the whole fam will be there right?. It’s going to be crazy having all the family in one place after so much time. lol ok so to tell you guys a little bit about my week. Well it was good. lol We had a baptism on Saturday and the confirmation on Sunday. My companion was able to baptize him so he really enjoyed that. I think I already told you who it was but if I didn’t his name is José Luis Chavez. Really the baptism turned out really well. Jose Luis isn’t a person of a lot of words but at the end he shared his testimony with everyone and it was actually really strong!! Maybe a little short but really good. It was also nice to have that baptism because it helps me get motivated to have as many as I can before going home because it really is the very best about the mission and it’s what brings the most joy and happiness the life of a missionary. And of course it was my companion’s first baptism and he now knows what it feels like to be able to baptize a person in the Church of Jesus Christ. At the end of this letter I put two pics of the baptism so that you guys can see. Also some pics that I took today and last week because I didn’t have time to write last week. Oh hey mom right before writing I put all my pics on a CD and sent them off, so you should get them next week or so. I hope they get there soon. Hey mom do you think you can put some money on my card before next week so I can start buying some stuff. I want to make sure I have time to get all the stuff I want to get you all. But then again it’s not that important so if you can’t do it right now don’t worry about it. ok what else can I tell you all about? So it’s funny, in my sector there are a few returned missionaries. Every time they see me they ask me how much time do I have until I go home. lol they love bothering me about that. lol the good thing is that it’s pretty easy for me not to think about home and everything. Pretty much on p-day is when I have time to think about it. lol just reading your letters makes me trucky lol just playin. I am good. Well I don’t have much to tell you about concerning investigators. We are still looking for more people to teach. We have one person with a date right now and we are going to put more. I’ll be giving you an update the next week. Well fam I think I am going to let you all go. I love you all and hope you have a great week. Enjoy your summer!! I love you all and miss you all.
Lots of love,
Elder Keables

It was also nice to have that baptism...

June 6, 2011

Hey Fam!!!

ok so sorry I didn’t write you yesterday. We had a meeting and had to go to Guayaquil. Mom, I will try getting all the pictures out by next p-day. Ok so I don’t have much time. I just wanted to tell you guys that I am doing soooo goood. I hope you all are great also. This Saturday we are going to have a baptism, so we are really excited about that. I’ll tell you all about it the next week and send some more pics. Hey I love you all and miss you all. Sorry I can’t write much, but the work must go on. lol I’ll be sure to write the next week. I love you all!!! Oh and I didn’t get transferred, which I am fine with!!!

Christ lives and this is his church and I am a missionary of his church!! What more could I ask for?

May 30, 2011

Fam!!!!

Tonight we have transfers so we still don’t know what is going to happen. I hope that I don’t have changes, but if I do then it’s cool- I’ll just have to live with that. lol well I am doing great. It’s been another good week. A little hard because we didn’t have the baptism that we planned on. But the good thing is that we have a baptism on the 11th that is sure. His name is Jose Luis, he is the boyfriend of a member. So we are excited for that. Wow! There are so many things that are changing back at home. I can’t believe that Brooke Brown is married and also that Jamie T is also getting married. What is going on with the people back at home? They are all going crazy. Russell gets back only in 10 days? That is also way crazy. I really can’t believe what I am hearing. So little old Julia is now graduated, that also is really hard for me to believe. lol Really Braxton and Emily too? In the pics they still look so little and graduation is for big people. lol Now that I am getting closer to home, things are really starting to change. lol Dang so why didn’t Janae tell him that she was my sister? Oscar is the man! I love that guy. I sure hope that when he was talking about me he was only saying good things. lol just playin. Hey question?? Is Oscar playing football for Butte?? I know that he was planning on playing there before I left, but I haven’t heard anything since the day I left about that guy. Ok so mom I still haven’t gotten my flight papers but when I do you will be the first one to know. The only thing I know is that I am supposed to go home the 9th of August, but I still don’t know how I feel about that. lol ok so to tell you all about what’s going on in my life. First today we went to play Frisbee again at the park and it was raining all night so we played in the mud and it was sooo sweet. Oh other thing is that Elder Smith my second son… Well during this last week he got changed to Cuenca and now is in my district! lol today he was there to play with us and I had forgotten how much of a beast that guy really is! He is awesome! lol But yah it’s cool to see how well he is doing later in the mission. I also got to see my first son at the conference that we had with Elder Gonzalez. Yah, Richard G. Scott couldn’t make it so we listen to Elder Gonzalez. So that was cool. That man is soooooo powerful. He knows the scriptures like no one. Really it motivated me so much to just keep working and to study more in the scriptures, or better said, memorize them. He was way powerful. Ok so what more can I tell you all about? I love the mission. Really I am enjoying every minute. This sector is a little hard. I mean it was easier in the beginning but now we are struggling just a little bit. I mean we do have Jose Luis that will be getting baptized really soon, but the thing is after his baptism he will be member and that means that we have to keep working and keep looking for new people. It’s hard but I know that we will have success and the Lord will guide us in this work. We just need to trust in him and be obedient. Really I am trying as hard as I can to not think of home and be as obedient as I possibly can. Sometimes it’s a little hard, but I can do it. Well, to tell you the truth I can’t think of anything more to say so I just would like to finish with my testimony. I want you all to know that I love this work. I love the Church. I realized that before the mission I really didn’t have a testimony and I really didn’t know that much about the church. But in these last few months I have grown so much. I didn’t think it was possible to be so far away from my family and love ones but still be so happy. Really it’s hard to put it into words the way I feel or the gratitude that I feel towards the Church and mostly to my Savior, my Lord, Jesus Christ. I feel closer to him then I have ever felt. I know that he loves us. I know that this is his church and this is his work. Every baptism that I have is not for me, but it’s for him. I KNOW with all my heart that He lives. That he was sent by our loving Heavenly Father, to suffer for our sins, to carry our pains, to give us an example, to give us hope, and to give us happiness. He is my Savior, my Redeemer, my light, my friend and my older brother. I know that he called Joseph Smith to be a prophet and that he guided him to the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Him. The words in that book have done so much for my life and for the lives of so many. I know that we have a prophet that guides us today; I don’t doubt it because I feel the love that he has for this work and for his master and teacher Jesus Christ. God lives and loves us. His son is are salvacion and are only hope back to our Father. Christ lives and this is his church and I am a missionary of his church!! What more could I ask for??? Family I love you all so much and I am soo happy that we will be together forever. Parents, you’re more than I could ever ask for, and I am truly the luckiest Elder alive. I thank you for everything!!! I love you all and hope you have a great week.

From,

Elder Keables
